About Me
Corissa J. S. Gold, MFA, LPC-S, ATR-BC
I am an Artist, Licensed Professional Counselor, and Board-Certified Art Therapist.
The creative process has been my most nourishing resource for as long as I can remember. I was fortunate to discover my life’s passion early, and for more than five decades I have devoted myself to cultivating this work—within myself, my art, and my therapeutic relationships with others.
Humans communicate and understand through story—our stories help us remember, connect, and dream. Storytelling, like art, steadies the heart and soothes the body, reminding us that language, presence, and image can be forms of care and love. My work is rooted in this belief.
I also recognize that stories can limit, distort, or harm. Storytelling, while profoundly connective, requires authenticity, care, and responsibility. History and humanitarian inquiry inform both my artwork and my therapeutic practice.
As an adoptee with ancestral threads through England, Benin/Togo, Mali, Nigeria, Cameroon, Scotland, Norway, Wales, and Ireland, I am guided by a deep curiosity about lineage, legacy, and the human condition. These threads shape my sense of identity, belonging, and the layers that connect us to one another across generations.
My practice bridges art and psychology—honoring life’s milestones, past and present, the personal and the collective. Through making, I heal, I connect, I support, and I remember who we are: storytellers with purpose.
Our work together is about relationship—first with ourselves, then with one another. I believe therapy isn’t about applying quick fixes, but about developing and evolving our understanding of self in relationship. People seek therapy for many reasons: life dissatisfaction, trauma, identity exploration, belonging, or connection. Together, through a collaborative and compassionate process, we listen for what is needed and move toward greater clarity and integration.
I hope you feel inspired to continue deepening your own journey. If you’re interested in exploring potential collaboration, I welcome the opportunity to connect.
